The refloating of vessel Lu Rong Yuan Yu 588 was successfully completed today, Mar 11th, at 11:30 am, near the shores of Pointe-Aux-Sables. 130 tonnes of diesel and 5 tonnes of lubricant oil were successfully pumped out of the vessel. The refloating operations started around 05:15 pm on Mar 9 and it required a dedicated team of 16 people to complete the operations in less than 2 days. The multi-partnered team, headed by Polyeco and the MPA (Mauritius Ports Authority) worked relentlessly around the clock to ensure that all oil was removed in time, in order to avoid an oil spill.
